Shannon Strasser
Registered dietitian and nutrition therapist
Shannon Strasser is a registered dietitian and nutrition therapist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, as well as many other nutrition issues. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Kansas State University in 1999 and her ACE personal training certificate in 2001.
Shannon believes in using nutrition therapy because it is a client-centered approach that focuses on beliefs, emotions, and behaviors. “Nutrition therapy results in forming a long-term relationship with my clients, and with a psychotherapist if one is involved.”
Since 1999, Shannon has been providing nutrition counseling for individuals in a variety of settings. She began her career as a clinical nutritionist at several Kansas City area hospitals. After realizing how much she enjoyed working with diabetics, she joined a private endocrinology practice working both with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics. She also has experience as an assistant manager of a health club, providing nutrition counseling and personal training to its members.
One of Shannon’s dreams was to live in Colorado, and that opportunity finally came when she took a position with the Eating Disorder Center of Denver in 2003. She worked with both the partial hospitalization program and outpatient services. It is here that she realized her true passion in the field of nutrition was to help people normalize their eating patterns and achieve health.
Shannon is an active member of the American, Colorado, and Denver Dietetic Associations. She is also involved in specialty groups such as the Sports, Cardiovascular & Wellness Nutritionists Practice Group.
Shannon is thrilled to live in Colorado, and loves everything it has to offer. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and dog.
